Country hitmaker Russell Dickerson will headline a free concert in downtown Oklahoma City on Saturday, September 26, as ten local credit unions team up to throw the fourth annual CU in the Park bash at Scissortail Park. The show kicks off at 7 p.m. on the Love's Travel Stops Stage & Great Lawn, with Oklahoma City pop trio OK3 opening, food trucks on site, drinks flowing, and jumbo screens flanking both sides of the stage.

The concert is the brainchild of a coalition of ten Oklahoma financial institutions — Allegiance Credit Union, Bison Federal Credit Union, Communication Federal Credit Union, Credit Union One of Oklahoma, Credit Union Service Centers, Oklahoma's Credit Union, Oklahoma Educators Credit Union, Tinker Federal Credit Union, US Employees Federal Credit Union, and WEOKIE Federal Credit Union — who pooled their marketing budgets rather than spend on individual ad campaigns, according to Scissortail Park. As News 9 reports, organizers redirected advertising money toward the free community event, and local credit unions say the goal is to raise awareness about credit unions as a banking and lending option.

Christin Vaughn said CU in the Park was created as a free family fun community event, per the outlet's report. Morgan Edwards, meanwhile, said local talent will be featured as the concert opener and encouraged attendees to bring blankets, chairs, coolers and children — framing the night as a family-friendly outing rather than a typical ticketed show.

A Chart-Topping Headliner Rolls Into Town

Dickerson arrives in Oklahoma City fresh off his sixth career Billboard Country Airplay No. 1 single, “Happen to Me,” which topped the chart in September 2025 and joined a run of hits that includes “Yours,” “Blue Tacoma,” “Love You Like I Used To,” “Every Little Thing,” and “God Gave Me a Girl,” according to MusicRow. The single served as the lead track on his fourth studio album, Famous Back Home, which has powered his extended Russellmania Tour into 2026.

That tour momentum included a milestone night at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in May, where Dickerson accepted a 3x Platinum RIAA plaque for his crossover duet “She Likes It” with Jake Scott, as Backstage Country reported. “Happen to Me” has since surpassed 310 million streams worldwide and crossed into pop radio formats, a run that led to a KIDZ BOP cover video filmed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, according to Concord, which noted the song also cracked the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the Top 20 on Hot AC radio.

Local Trio OK3 Gets the Opening Slot

Opening the show is OK3, the Oklahoma City pop vocal trio of Courtney Hooker, Sierra Sikes, and Kenna Fields, who have performed at Scissortail Park before and are known locally for their appearance on Season 25 of The Voice. The group turned all four coaches' chairs during the show's February 2024 premiere with a rendition of Meghan Trainor's “Made You Look,” per Gaylord News, which noted that the members met through a local vocal coach; Courtney Hooker and Sierra Sikes attended the University of Central Oklahoma, while Kenna Fields was a current UCO student.

Scissortail's Great Lawn Has Hosted Crowds Before

Dickerson will perform on the Love's Travel Stops Stage & Great Lawn. Past CU in the Park headliners have included Jordan Davis in 2024 and Brothers Osborne in 2025, illustrating how quickly the free series has grown.

Scissortail Park itself is the downtown Oklahoma City venue for the concert.

For Saturday's show, organizers are encouraging attendees to arrive early to snag spots closer to the stage, and to bring blankets, chairs, and coolers for a evening built around lawn seating rather than assigned tickets. With food trucks, drinks, and screens on both sides of the stage promised for the night, the credit unions behind the event are betting that a free concert does more for their brand than another round of billboards or radio spots ever could.
