Clouds Clear Before Afternoon Heat
Skies should clear quickly by late morning as temperatures climb through the 80s and 90s. Southeast winds are expected to stay light at 0 to 5 mph during the day, after a breezier start, with the hottest conditions arriving in the mid- to late afternoon.
Gulf Moisture Adds A Few Storm Chances
Moisture from Tropical Storm Edouard’s remnants adds a stormy wrinkle to the forecast from Tuesday through Friday, especially east of San Antonio and across the Coastal Plains. It is a meaningful shift from the earlier forecast, which emphasized a mostly hot and dry run.
For San Antonio, rain chances remain low at about 7% Tuesday, 3% Wednesday and 7% Thursday, rising to 15% Friday. Any shower or thunderstorm that develops could bring a brief heavy downpour or gusty wind, but widespread rain is not expected in the city.
Labor Day Weekend Stays Hot
Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low near 79, although the heat index could still reach 101. Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to hit 100, followed by highs near 98 Friday and Saturday, 97 Sunday and 98 on Labor Day.
Heat Will Be The Main Hazard
The forecast discussion from the National Weather Service says heat index values could run from 105 to 110 through the weekend. No watches, warnings or advisories are currently listed for San Antonio, but residents should schedule strenuous outdoor work for the morning or evening, drink water regularly and check on children, older adults and pets.
