Two South St. Louis culinary institutions are teaming up to give local audiences a taste of Death Becomes Her weeks before the Tony-winning musical takes the stage. Sister Cities Cajun is pairing with Tenacious Eats and The Fabulous Fox Theatre for a themed film screening and five-course dinner inspired by the 1992 dark comedy, set for September 26 at the restaurant's Soulard location.
The event, reported by FOX 2, will take place at Sister Cities Cajun's home on 3550 South Broadway in historic Soulard, and tickets run $75 for five courses and five cocktails inspired by the film. The concept comes from Tenacious Eats, the operation founded by Chef Liz Schuster that has spent more than a decade running interactive Movies for Foodies events, where multi-course meals and drinks are built around specific beats in a featured movie, according to Sauce Magazine.
Sister Cities Cajun itself has a story worth knowing before diners settle in for gumbo and gourmet mortality jokes. Co-owned by Louisiana native Chef Travis Parfait and Pamela Melton, the restaurant's Soulard location is at 3550 South Broadway. It is known around the city for from-scratch gumbo and other scratch-made Southern dishes.
