Chicago is waking up to cloudy skies Tuesday, with a high near 64 degrees expected later in the day. Spotty rain showers could develop Tuesday, while northeast winds are expected to gust 20 to 25 knots, or approximately 23 to 29 mph.
Lake Michigan Beaches Remain Dangerous
Anyone heading toward the lake should skip the water and stay away from piers, breakwalls and other shoreline structures. A National Weather Service Chicago Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through Wednesday evening, with waves of 6 to 9 feet and dangerous currents expected.
The warning follows Hoodline's Monday forecast, as breezy northeast winds continue pushing rough conditions along the shoreline. The lake may look inviting, but this is not a good week for casual swimming or wandering onto exposed shoreline structures.
Showers Fade Tonight As Cooler Pattern Holds

Wednesday brings another partly sunny day with a high near 65 and continued east-northeast winds around 15 mph. A stray sprinkle or light shower remains possible near the lake, but widespread rain is not expected.
Sunshine Returns Late In The Week
Thursday and Friday should be calmer, with highs near 66 degrees, lighter winds and at least some sunshine. Clouds or precipitation could approach late Saturday or Sunday.
The outlook continues through the weekend.
