Sweat Records plans to add a second space in Miami, with Sweat Annex at 204 NE 55th Terrace, near the shop’s flagship at 5505 NE 2nd Ave. Miami New Times reported that the Annex is intended to expand the store’s used-record selection and make room for workshops, crafts, meetings and other gatherings.
The plans place retail and community activities in the same new space, but its opening date has not been set. The shop is planning a preview fundraiser at the Annex on October 1, from 7 to 9 p.m.; according to Miami New Times, donation tiers range from $25 to $500 and the event will include a Q&A for attendees to offer ideas for the space.
A distinct addition to Little Haiti’s cultural landscape
The Annex would join a neighborhood with other documented cultural spaces, though it is a separate project. ArtburstMiami reported that the Little Haiti Cultural Complex opened in 2006 with a theater, art gallery, courtyard and Caribbean Marketplace. That public-facing venue offers context for the area’s cultural infrastructure; it does not establish an affiliation with Sweat Records or determine what the Annex’s eventual programming will be.
National vinyl figures offer market context, not a local forecast
The expansion also comes amid sustained growth in U.S. vinyl revenue: the RIAA reported that vinyl-record revenue rose 7% to $1.4 billion in 2024, its eighteenth consecutive year of growth. That national revenue measure provides industry context, but it does not show demand for used records in Miami or predict the Annex’s performance.
