Local singers will perform at Centennial Plaza for two nights this week, presenting a free Broadway revue on Friday and Saturday. The show, called Broadway Under the Stars: A Musical Revue, starts at 7:30 p.m. both nights, running Friday, Sept. 11 and Saturday, Sept. 12, at Centennial Plaza, 2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd.
The Taylorsville City Hall post describes a revue featuring different lineups of local performers each night, with admission free both evenings. Friday's program includes numbers from “I Dreamed a Dream,” “Music of the Night,” and “Bring Him Home,” while Saturday's program continues the Broadway revue.
A Season Finale Tied to Friday Night Plaza Traditions
Friday's performance doubles as the featured act for that week's “Starry Nights @ the Plaza,” Taylorsville's weekly community gathering that brings vendors from The Food Truck League to Centennial Plaza starting at 5:30 p.m., ahead of the 7:30 p.m. show, per the City of Taylorsville. The series runs every Friday night from May 15 through Sept. 25 on Centennial Plaza, pairing musical acts, food trucks, and outdoor movie screenings on City Hall grounds throughout the summer, according to the city.
The two-night run also happens to fall near the end of that Friday night series, meaning this week's Broadway show is one of the last featured acts before the summer schedule wraps up later this month.

The Venue Behind the Free Admission
Centennial Plaza's $750,000 outdoor amphitheater is a 50-by-75-foot brick and concrete stage built by Hogan & Associates Construction with built-in power and sound infrastructure, according to the Taylorsville Journal. Centennial Plaza is outside Taylorsville City Hall and includes outdoor event spaces.
Just off the outdoor stage sits the $39 million Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center, which opened in March 2021 and houses a 439-seat main-stage theater, the 211-seat Studio 5400 black box, and the Centennial Room rehearsal space, as Hoodline previously reported. Centennial Plaza's Plaza +ART program currently features 22 public sculptures, per the city.
