A three-vehicle crash at Park Presidio Boulevard and California Street sent six people to the hospital Saturday evening, just before 7 p.m., prompting San Francisco firefighters to declare a Yellow Alert multi-casualty incident. Three of the victims suffered moderate injuries and three suffered minor injuries, though none were considered life-threatening.
Fire Officials Detail The Scene
San Francisco Fire Department Captain Jonathan Baxter told SFGate that the crash involved three vehicles and happened around 6:55 p.m. near the intersection. As reported by NBC Bay Area, all six victims were taken to a local hospital, and authorities warned drivers to expect delays near Park Presidio Boulevard and California Street as crews worked the scene.
Firefighters declared a Yellow Alert, which helped secure adequate emergency-room occupancy and brought extra ambulances to the scene.
A Corner With A Troubled Past
The intersection carries a grim track record. A fatal two-vehicle collision struck the exact same corner in June 2019, when a northbound sedan and an eastbound pickup truck collided around 3 a.m., killing one driver and injuring two others, according to CBS News. Park Presidio Boulevard is a major thoroughfare connecting the Golden Gate Bridge with 19th Avenue, which places it under Caltrans jurisdiction working alongside city agencies. San Francisco's Vision Zero High Injury Network covers the 13 percent of streets that account for 75 percent of the city's severe and fatal crashes, according to Walk San Francisco.
Construction And Cameras Already In Play
City and state agencies have not ignored the corridor's problems. Caltrans District 4 has been carrying out overnight paving at this very intersection as part of a multi-stage resurfacing project running from December 2025 through December 2026, a project Hoodline detailed in its earlier report on Caltrans commute disruptions. The city also has 33 automated speed-enforcement camera locations, which have been linked to reduced speeding.
Saturday's crash adds another entry to that record, even as none of the six injuries were life-threatening. Authorities have not released further details on what caused the three vehicles to collide.
