Two inmates from a Manchester work-release facility have been missing since Monday afternoon, last seen in the area of Delta Dental Stadium after they signed out to look for jobs and never came back. Aris Karamousianis, 43, and James Brouillard, 63, were placed on escape status at 5:30 p.m. Monday by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections after failing to return to the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit.
The two men had signed out of the Manchester facility at 11:05 a.m. to seek employment, according to NBC Boston. Their last known location was near Delta Dental Stadium, as Concord Patch reported. Their current whereabouts remain unknown.
Karamousianis is described as about 6 feet 2 inches tall and 220 pounds, with blue eyes, brown hair, and a gold cross necklace. He was last seen wearing a gray zip-up fleece jacket, a white t-shirt, and jeans. He had been incarcerated for being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon and had a scheduled release date of December 3, 2026 — meaning he was just months from finishing his sentence when he disappeared.
A Second Inmate With a Longer Sentence Still Ahead
Brouillard stands about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs roughly 200 pounds, with light brown, graying hair and blue eyes. He was last seen in a gray crew neck sweatshirt, jeans, and white sneakers, and he has several visible tattoos: a skull with a heart and rose on his right forearm, a grim reaper on his right upper arm, and a dragon on his left arm. Brouillard had been serving time for armed robbery, with a release date not until December 2, 2030 — leaving him years away from completing his sentence.
Karamousianis' disappearance is not his first time evading law enforcement. In April 2012, he was apprehended in Pelham, New Hampshire, after hiding in a basement during a family gathering, ending a two-year stretch as a fugitive after he fled a 2009 trial in Massachusetts on firearms trafficking charges, according to the Lowell Sun. He disappeared before trial and was wanted on a warrant after selling a gun to an undercover detective, the paper reported.
An Earlier Incident at the Manchester Facility
In an earlier incident, 27-year-old inmate Nathan Allen Cox allegedly failed to return to the same transitional housing unit after work, according to the New Hampshire Department of Corrections.
Calumet Transitional Housing Unit, located at 126 Lowell Street in Manchester, opened in 1979 and has a maximum capacity of 64 male residents preparing for community re-entry. The facility offers work-release privileges along with re-entry assistance such as resume writing and job interview preparation.
Hoodline reported in escape from Shea Farm that inmate Marie C. Mitchell-Torres failed to return to that Concord facility after a work shift in January. In January 2022, a resident died from an apparent drug overdose after corrections officers administered Narcan and CPR, triggering a joint investigation by state corrections officials and the New Hampshire Department of Justice, according to the Nashua Telegraph.
