Honey Veil, the matcha and sourdough brand that built a following out of a South Miami storefront, is expanding into two Miami-Dade retail destinations: Aventura Mall and Miami Beach's Sunset Harbour. The moves extend the brand's presence beyond its original home base.

The Aventura Mall location will give Honey Veil a second Aventura location, according to Miami New Times, which reports the coming-soon storefront sits directly across from Italian restaurant Divieto Ristorante inside the mall. Food creator @lauramorap first revealed the Aventura Mall location on September 9, and Honey Veil later displayed its own coming-soon sign inside the mall. No opening date has been announced for either the Aventura Mall or Sunset Harbour locations, per the same report.

In Miami Beach, Honey Veil is taking over 1800 Bay Road, Suite 103, a space previously occupied by organic boutique café chain Dr. Smood. The outlet describes the project as a planned pantry concept, though specifics on what that pantry format will look like have not been detailed publicly. The Sunset Harbour address sits within a commercial hub spanning more than 70,000 square feet across eight buildings managed by Stiles Property Management, anchored by grocers including Trader Joe's, Publix and The Fresh Market.

From Farmers' Markets to Food Trailers

Honey Veil's rise traces back to founders Cecilia “Ceci” Alcobe, 22, and Regina Alcobe, 19, sisters who were competitive tennis players and traveled to several countries before pivoting to entrepreneurship, according to Time Out Miami. The concept began when their mother, also named Cecilia, started baking homemade sourdough loaves for friends, which led the family to start selling goods at weekend farmers' markets in October 2024. They pooled savings to launch their first food trailer in February 2025, per the outlet.

That trailer eventually grew into a permanent café in South Miami, where Honey Veil now operates daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 5748 Sunset Drive. The brand built much of its following on social media, teasing its second store as far back as July 23, 2026, in a TikTok labeled “BTS: Second Store Ep. 1.”

Juggling Two Aventura Operations

The dual expansion complicates the brand's existing Aventura footprint. Honey Veil had operated a trailer at Aventura Corporate Center before announcing August 16 as that trailer's final day there. The very next day, the brand announced it was back in Aventura under a new schedule, now running the Aventura trailer Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while a separate trailer at the University of Miami runs Monday through Friday during the same hours. How the team will manage those trailer schedules alongside a new, permanent Aventura Mall storefront remains an open question.

Honey Veil's current menu leans on its matcha lineup, including the Banana Bread Matcha and the Honey Veil Matcha made with a honey-vanilla syrup, alongside coffee drinks, sourdough cinnamon rolls and loaves. The brand also sells its house-branded ceremonial Japanese matcha, called Haniberu, in retail tins online and in-store for $45, while its Iced Banana Bread Latte runs $8.50, according to Honey Veil's own site.

Expanding Its Matcha Business

The expansion comes as Honey Veil continues building its matcha-focused business.

Aventura Mall and Sunset Harbour will give Honey Veil two new retail locations beyond its South Miami café. The brand's next chapter will bring its matcha and sourdough offerings to both destinations.

Honey Veil's growth comes as other Miami-born wellness and specialty drink concepts expand, including Pura Vida Miami's New York expansion. For now, Honey Veil has not announced firm opening dates for either the Aventura Mall or Sunset Harbour locations.
