A 42-year-old West Palm Beach woman is facing attempted first-degree murder charges after police say she stabbed a man in the upper abdomen and severed part of his nose during an altercation. Amanda Rupp allegedly approached the man and asked about his bicycle before pulling a kitchen knife and telling the victim, “I'm going to kill you,” as the attack unfolded outside a Walgreens on Broadway Avenue.
According to WPEC, officers responded to 4715 Broadway Avenue after security guards found a man suffering from abdominal and nose injuries. The victim had reportedly been sitting near the Walgreens waiting because his bicycle had a flat tire when Rupp approached and asked about the bike, per the station's report. Investigators say she then pulled a knife and tried to take his phone before the situation turned violent.
Per the arrest report cited by the station, Rupp stabbed the man with a kitchen knife, hit him in the back of the head several times, kicked him, and punched him in the face. She also allegedly pulled the bicycle away from him during the struggle. Officers say part of the man's nose was found at the scene, along with a large amount of blood.
Suspect Allegedly Seen Standing Over Victim
Investigators told the station that surveillance footage showed Rupp standing over the victim after the altercation, though the video itself was described as dark and pixelated, making it difficult to determine exactly what happened during the struggle. The same report notes that Rupp was later seen walking south on Broadway from 47th Street carrying a silver-bladed knife in her right hand, with blood visible on her arms.
The victim's injuries required emergency surgery. Investigators spoke with him at St. Mary's Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center. The arrest report says he underwent reconstructive surgery on his nose as well as an abdominal procedure to stop internal bleeding.
Robbery Allegation and Drug Paraphernalia Charge
Rupp also alleged that the victim had robbed her and stole $15 from her purse, per the arrest report — a claim attributed to Rupp herself in the police account. She now faces charges of attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability, robbery with a deadly weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. During an interview with investigators, Rupp reportedly showed no remorse, per the report cited by the station.

Under Florida law, attempted first-degree murder is generally a life felony, according to Musca Law, which discusses intent and an act toward committing the offense. This is not the first violent knife incident West Palm Beach police have investigated in recent months. In a case reported on September 10, 2026, about two weeks earlier, a 72-year-old man allegedly stabbed a victim, who fled to Fire Station 3 after the first stabbing and was stabbed a second time there.
Open questions remain about the case, including the outcome of Rupp's court appearance, her bond status, and the victim's ongoing medical recovery.
