A woman in her late 20s is accused of fatally shooting her mother near the White Spar Trailhead and a nearby campground outside Prescott, then calling 911 herself before turning herself in to deputies. The shooting happened around 1 p.m. on Sunday, and the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by first responders to save her.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies reported that the woman called 911 from near the trailhead and told them she had shot her mother. She then turned herself in to deputies and remains in custody, per the same report.
