Zac Brown is trading arena stages for a cruise ship deck. Margaritaville at Sea has named the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter the official godfather of Beachcomber, its all-new flagship set to launch from PortMiami in January 2027, with Brown slated to christen the vessel and perform onboard before it ever leaves port.
The announcement, made by Margaritaville at Sea, says Brown will officially christen Beachcomber in Miami on January 9, 2027, and perform onboard ahead of its inaugural sailing. As reported by the Orlando Sentinel, the line says it is working to carry forward the music and legacy of the late Jimmy Buffett as it expands its fleet. Brown called the collaboration “fun” in a news release, adding that being named godfather is “a true honor.”
A Fleet Reunion In The Bahamas
Weeks after the christening, Brown will headline an exclusive concert in Nassau on January 28, 2027, marking the first time Margaritaville at Sea's three ships — Beachcomber, Islander and Paradise — have gathered together, according to the same prnewswire.com release. Christopher Ivy, the company's chief executive officer, said in a news release that naming Brown godfather of Beachcomber is “a natural next step” in a partnership that has been building for months.
That partnership already runs deeper than a ribbon-cutting. Brown helped design Beachcomber itself and collaborated with Margaritaville at Sea to create the ship's Same Boat live-music venue, which the company describes as the first artist-designed live-music venue at sea, per Margaritaville at Sea's own site. Same Boat will feature design, artwork and a music program tied to Brown's involvement.
What Beachcomber Brings To The Caribbean
Beachcomber will introduce more than 15 new venues when it launches from PortMiami in January 2027, sailing four- to eight-night itineraries to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean before repositioning to Galveston in October 2027. Beachcomber will become Margaritaville at Sea's largest ship, according to Seatrade Cruise News, which reports the vessel at 102,500 gross tons with capacity for 3,450 passengers — though Cruise Industry News has separately described it as a 2,720-guest ship acquired from Costa Cruises, a discrepancy that has not been resolved.
Beachcomber's new Caribbean run adds to a lineup that has grown quickly. The line has expanded from one ship and one itinerary to three homeports, three distinct ships and more than 25 Caribbean ports, Seatrade's report notes, quoting company officials. Beachcomber's deployment will supplement Paradise's two- to four-night trips out of the Port of Palm Beach and Islander's four- to 10-night cruises from Port Tampa Bay, according to the same report.
The Fenway Park Giveaway
The godfather announcement builds on a summer stretch that already put Brown and Margaritaville at Sea in the spotlight together. Margaritaville at Sea is serving as presenting sponsor of Zac Brown Band's 27-show Love & Fear U.S. Tour, and the partnership delivered a splashy moment at Fenway Park on August 2, when Brown marked a 15th consecutive sold-out show at the ballpark.
At that Boston concert, Brown provided a Margaritaville at Sea cruise vacation to every fan in attendance. The prnewswire.com release put the crowd at more than 35,000 concertgoers and the total giveaway at $43 million in vacations, while the Boston Globe separately reported more than 37,000 attendees receiving complimentary trips valued at almost $40 million — figures that differ across the two accounts and have not been reconciled.
With the christening, the Nassau concert and the Same Boat venue all tied together, Margaritaville at Sea is leaning hard into Brown as the face of its next chapter. For cruisers watching the brand grow from a single ship into a three-vessel fleet spanning Florida, Texas and the Bahamas, Beachcomber's January debut will be the first real test of whether the hype turns into bookings.
