A Pattern of Hospital Custody Escapes in Nashville
A Pattern of Hospital Custody Escapes in Nashville This is not the first time someone in custody has slipped away from Nashville General Hospital. In January, WKRN reported on the arrest of 20-year-old Marcus Stanton, who was taken into custody weeks after allegedly running from an officer escorting him from the hospital. Officers with the U.S. Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force and Vehicle Crimes Section detectives reportedly arrested Stanton in the Cheatham Place area on January 7, 2026.
Another escape involved 24-year-old Tearion Jones, who FOX 17 reported ran from an officer at General Hospital while in custody for violating a domestic violence order of protection. Jones, who was handcuffed when he escaped, was last seen wearing gray shorts, a white tank top and brown hospital socks before Metro Nashville police Titans Unit detectives found him on Moss Trail in Madison.
A 2020 case followed a different path. Stephanie Raymer, a Davidson County inmate, walked away from her room at the hospital before she was brought back into custody by Metro Nashville police that same Wednesday afternoon, according to newschannel5.com. Officials with the sheriff's office said at the time that their policy did not allow the use of restraints due to Raymer's medical condition, per a statement reported by the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.
Gregory Redden was found on Dr. D.B. Todd Boulevard and Jefferson Street and was back in custody, according to WSMV's October 21 update.
