The fourth annual Anthony Texas Toy Run is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18.
The event was announced by Anthony Police Department on Facebook. Organizers are requiring preregistration this year, directing interested participants to call Javier at 915-496-5071 ahead of time. The event includes a vehicle lineup.
Cash Prizes and Live Music Headline the Day
Beyond the toy drive, the Toy Run is dangling cash prizes for entrants and promising live music throughout the show hours, according to the poster. Past car shows have featured live music and toy donations benefiting the Anthony Police Department.
Alamo Auto Supply has shared the event.
Operation Santa Drop
Operation Santa Drop is an Anthony Police Department holiday gift program.
In 2024, the Anthony Police Department partnered with the Anthony Texas Police Foundation and Food Pantry, Inc. to hold Operation Santa Drop at the Anthony High School football field, giving out about 1,000 gifts, per KFOX14/CBS4. The outlet also reported an Operation Santa Drop where Santa arrived by helicopter, the Grinch made his first appearance, and they greeted upwards of 500 students, giving each a toy.
A Toy Run With Local Roots
Sunday's gathering follows a format that's become familiar around Anthony. A previous Rolling Smoke BBQ Toy Run and Car Show required a toy donation for car-show entry and offered prizes across multiple categories, with live music and performances from the Anthony High School band, dance team, cheer squad, drill team and color guard leading the national anthem, according to KTSM's report on that second annual event. This year's fourth annual installment keeps the same spirit — vehicles, music and a cash incentive — while moving to Anthony Municipal Park and requiring one toy per vehicle or a donation of $30 or more.
