Hollywood Casino and Hotel Aurora is rolling out a winter lineup built to pull Illinois crowds beyond the slot machines, booking a progressive-rock jam band, two stand-up comedians and a Las Vegas-caliber illusionist for its new event center. The $360 million complex along Interstate 88 will host Umphrey’s McGee, comedian Michael Blaustein, illusionist Rob Lake and comedian David Spade across a run of shows stretching from mid-January through late February 2027.

The casino announced the schedule in a release describing a mix meant to cover a wide swath of tastes, with offerings spanning live music, stand-up comedy and grand-scale illusion, according to enjoyaurora.com. Umphrey’s McGee, a band known for pairing progressive rock with nightly improvisation, kicks things off Jan. 16, 2027, as part of its Fresh Cut 2027 Tour. Michael Blaustein, who co-hosts the Stiff Socks podcast and YouTube channel with Trevor Wallace and has drawn more than 2 billion views on viral stand-up clips over the past year, follows on Jan. 30, 2027, with his Bad Bad Boy Tour. Blaustein also sold more than 70,000 tickets during his 2025 tour.

Illusion and a Familiar Comedic Voice Round Out the Bill

Illusionist Rob Lake, who gained fame as a contestant on America’s Got Talent, brings The Magic of Rob Lake to the venue Feb. 21, 2027. Lake has performed on Broadway, the Las Vegas Strip and in more than 60 countries, and he designs and engineers every illusion in his own show — experience that also made him the illusion designer for Disney’s Aladdin and Adele’s Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.

David Spade closes out the announced run with a show scheduled for Feb. 27, 2027, at 8 p.m., as reported by the Chicago Tribune. Per the casino’s press release, tickets for the shows are on sale through Ticketmaster.

A Casino Still Finding Its Footing Since June

The entertainment push comes less than a year after the Aurora facility itself opened. The $360 million complex opened in late June 2026 near Interstate 88 in Aurora, offering 1,200 gaming positions, a 226-room hotel and the 12,000-square-foot event center now hosting the winter shows, per the same Tribune account.

Early numbers suggest the gamble on a land-based facility is paying off. In July, its first full month of operation, the complex generated $17.4 million in revenue and welcomed nearly 156,000 visitors, according to the Daily Herald. That performance pushed the property to No. 3 among Illinois’ 17 casinos by revenue that month, and the Daily Herald reports the move from a riverboat to dry land doubled both revenue and admissions compared with the same month a year earlier.

August brought even stronger figures, with nearly 263,000 visitors and more than $30 million in revenue, the Tribune’s report notes. September cooled somewhat, with the complex recording more than 124,000 visitors and more than $14 million in revenue. Casinos statewide are required to submit monthly admissions, receipts and gaming data to the Illinois Gaming Board, which compiles the figures used to track performance across the state’s properties.

Casino Says It's Testing What Works

Greg Moore, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino in Aurora, said the winter lineup offers acts for a broad range of guests. “You’re going to see a good amount of variety, everything from comedians to rock and roll to soon … a magician,” Moore told the Tribune, describing the approach as trying out a variety of acts over the next year to gauge local interest in the event space.

Moore said the casino is excited to welcome the acts to its event center and give guests more reasons to spend an evening there. Travel PR News, in its own coverage of the announcement, framed the move as part of the role the new Hollywood Casino and Hotel Aurora aims to play as more than a gaming venue, according to travelprnews.com.
