
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” is playing at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts through Oct. 18 as part of Broadway San Jose’s season, the presenter says. The listed running time is two hours and 30 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission, according to Broadway San Jose.
Broadway San Jose says $40 rush tickets are available at the box office beginning two hours before each performance, subject to availability; the venue limits purchases to nine tickets per person for the run. Broadway San Jose’s show information has the ticket details.
Krista Wigle is part of the touring cast as the Wardrobe Mistress, a role identified in Oregon ArtsWatch’s coverage. Lisa Vroman plays Madame Giry; Broadway.com reported that Vroman previously played Christine Daaé in the show on Broadway and in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The tour is a reimagined version based on the staging that opened at London’s His Majesty’s Theatre in 2021. It has a 38-person cast and a 14-musician orchestra, according to Broadway.com.
The musical’s earlier San Francisco engagement began at the Curran Theatre on Dec. 12, 1993, and was scheduled to run there through Jan. 3, 1999. Playbill reported that the run had drawn more than 3 million people and grossed $150 million.
