A late-September arrest in Bronzeville involved a person possessing a ghost gun, according to Chicago Police.

According to Chicago Police, officers made an arrest and recovered a firearm.

, 2nd District officers were responding to a call about a person with a gun when they ended up recovering the illegal firearm and making the arrest. Officers had searched the area after a witness gave them a description of the offender, and they later spotted someone matching that description in the 5000 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, per the department's account. Flemon was identified as the individual officers observed, and police said he had a noticeable bulge near his waistband.

When officers moved to detain him, Flemon resisted and pushed one of them to the ground, Chicago Police said. That officer struck his head on the concrete and was taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Another officer then took Flemon into custody, and officers recovered a ghost gun from him during the arrest, according to the department.

Multiple Felony Charges Filed

Flemon was charged with several felony counts, including aggravated battery of a peace officer, unlawful use of a weapon involving a short rifle or shotgun, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, Chicago Police said. He also faces a felony count of resisting or obstructing an officer and a separate misdemeanor count on the same allegation, per the department.

Chicago Police said responding officers put their own safety at risk while apprehending the possibly armed offender and recovering the illegal firearm. The department has not released additional details about the weapon itself, such as its model or condition.
