Carhartt and ’47 have turned their long-running hat partnership into a new lineup of cuffed beanies, giving Detroit and Michigan sports fans a fresh cold-weather option built around their favorite teams. The winter collection features knit caps with logos for the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Pistons, University of Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans, each priced at $40.

The beanies mark the first time the two brands have paired up on this kind of winter headwear, according to MLive.com. Carhartt, which is based in Michigan, and ’47 have released baseball-style hats together over the last few years, but the cuffed acrylic rib-knit beanies represent a new category for the collaboration. Each cap is designed in the brand's signature Carhartt brown, with some styles also offered in black.

Which Teams Get Two Colorways

Not every team gets the same color options. The Lions, Tigers, Wolverines and Spartans beanies are each available in both Carhartt brown and black, while the Red Wings and Pistons styles come only in Carhartt brown, per the same MLive report. Every beanie in the collection, regardless of team or color, costs $40.

Fans can see the split in colorways play out directly on retail pages. The Detroit Lions' own online shop lists separate black and brown versions of its Carhartt x ’47 cuffed knit hat, confirming both options are sold through official team channels alongside the Carhartt-’47 release. ’47 Brand's product listing for the Detroit Tigers version describes a similar build: a raised embroidered team logo on the front and a Carhartt woven label stitched on the back, with the cap made from acrylic fabric that includes elastic stretch for fit.

A Collaboration With a Habit of Selling Out

Shoppers hoping to snag one of the new beanies may want to move quickly. MLive's reporting notes that some teams in the collection may sell out entirely, continuing a pattern seen throughout the Carhartt x ’47 partnership. A separate MLive report from earlier in October found that Carhartt x ’47 hats almost always sell out when they drop, though Carhartt does occasionally restock them.

That same report detailed a fall 2026 camo hat collection covering NCAA, MLB and NFL teams, including Michigan styles for the Lions, Tigers, Wolverines and Spartans, priced between $42 and $45 depending on the style. Those camo hats used Carhartt's 1972 Duck Camo Cloth washed material, a different build from the acrylic rib-knit construction found in the new beanie line.

How the Partnership Got Here

The current wave of releases traces back to a formal relaunch Carhartt and ’47 announced via PR Newswire in July 2025, timed to MLB All-Star Week. That relaunch covered all 30 MLB teams and brought back the ’47 Clean Up and ’47 MVP cap silhouettes while introducing new styles including the ’47 Hitch, ’47 Trucker and ’47 Captain RL. The announcement said NBA, NFL, NHL and select NCAA programs would follow in the months after that launch, a rollout that has since reached Detroit's professional franchises and its two biggest college programs. PR Newswire also noted the relaunch followed the success of an original Carhartt-’47 drop eight years earlier.

With the beanie line now live, Detroit and Michigan fans have another way to represent their teams through the gear season, provided the $40 caps stay in stock long enough to grab one.
