San Antonio's Casa Dulce is opening a second storefront on the Southside, bringing its mix of Mexican candy, piñatas and party supplies to a new corner of the city. The shop at 826 SW Military Drive, near the intersection with Pleasanton Road, is smaller than the company's longtime San Pedro Avenue location but is stocked to carry the brand's best sellers and customer favorites.
Casa Dulce is adding a second San Antonio location on the Southside, according to MySA. A spokesperson for the business told the outlet the new shop will be smaller than the existing store but will still carry best sellers and customer favorites. Casa Dulce is known for its fruit ice creams and a strong social media following, and its sweets, pottery and party supplies are headed to the Southside as part of the expansion.
The new location is expected to stock chili powders, assorted candy bags, gummies, coconut, tamarind, chamoy and peanuts, per the same report. Shelves will also carry Sabritas chips, Vero, Ricolino, De la Rosa, Canels and Lucas products, along with Tachido Japanese-style peanuts. Shoppers can also expect the piñatas and Talavera pottery that have become staples of the original Casa Dulce storefront.
Hours and Opening Timeline
The Southside shop is listed as operating Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Casa Dulce is currently open to customers while testing software and stocking shelves, and the business plans to announce its official opening this Friday, October 16. The store is also awaiting delivery of additional shelves, fridges, freezers and merchandise before it's fully stocked, the report notes.
Casa Dulce is planning a grand opening and ribbon-cutting with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, according to the report. The business is open to the public and continues to offer wholesale discounts alongside its retail operation.
A Growing Footprint Since 2023
Casa Dulce has operated a San Pedro Avenue store in San Antonio for years, and in 2023 it moved to a larger space across the street from its original location. According to expressnews.com, that move to 6953 San Pedro Ave. gave the retail shop additional space dedicated to the wholesale side of the business, which supplies fruterías, raspa stands and other purveyors of San Antonio's favorite snacks. The 2023 location also stocked Mexican pottery, piñatas, paletas, hot sauces, and canned and bottled beverages, among other items.
On its website, Casa Dulce describes itself as offering Authentic Mexican Treats Delivered Nationwide, according to shopcasadulce.shop, serving both wholesale and retail customers. MySA's reporting describes an assortment of more than 3,000 varieties of Mexican candy, while Casa Dulce's own website advertises more than 2,000 candies and party supplies. Either way, the Southside expansion gives San Antonio shoppers a second spot to find the brand's signature treats closer to home.
