Cincinnati is starting Monday under foggy skies, but the weather will quickly turn warm and mostly sunny. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m., followed by an afternoon high near 83 degrees and a much warmer Tuesday that could reach 88.
Drivers should expect reduced visibility early Monday, with some areas potentially dropping to a quarter-mile or less. The National Weather Service advises slowing down, using headlights and leaving extra distance, especially during the morning commute.
Fog Clears Before A Summerlike Afternoon
Fog should lift by late morning as clouds break apart. Monday afternoon will be mostly sunny, with southwest winds around 1 to 7 mph and no meaningful chance of rain.
Monday night stays mostly clear, with temperatures settling near 64 degrees. Tuesday will be sunny, breezy at times and unusually warm for mid-October, with southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph and a high near 88.
How Unusual Is the October Warmth?
The National Weather Service Wilmington, Ohio, climate report lists an Oct. 12 normal high of 68 degrees and a record high of 87, set in 1928. Monday’s forecast high near 83 is above normal but below that date’s record. Tuesday’s 88-degree forecast is 20 degrees above the Oct. 12 normal, but the report’s record is specific to Oct. 12 and does not establish the record for Tuesday’s date.
Storms Arrive Wednesday And Linger
The dry stretch ends Wednesday, when showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop after 8 a.m. The forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain, with some locations picking up between a tenth and a quarter-inch.
Storm chances remain elevated Wednesday night, then continue Thursday as temperatures fall back to the mid-70s. Thursday brings a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, followed by another likely round Thursday night.
Sharp Cooldown Follows Friday Storms
Friday could bring more showers or thunderstorms before 2 p.m., along with gusty northwest winds between 10 and 17 mph. The high should reach only about 67 degrees, and temperatures are expected to tumble to around 40 Friday night.
Sunny, cooler weather takes over Saturday, with a high near 57 and an overnight low around 35. Sunday looks like a calmer rebound, with sunshine and a high near 65.
