Dallas starts Tuesday, October 13, under mostly cloudy skies and sticky air, but the clouds will give way to another hot afternoon. The forecast points to heat-index readings near 100, with southerly flow.
How Tuesday’s Heat Compares
According to the National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas, DFW’s normal high for Oct. 13 is 80 degrees, and the record is 97, set in 1910. Forecast highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s would be above normal but below the record.
A Hot, Windy Start
Low clouds should lift and scatter, with southerly flow expected during the day.
The current forecast is less intense than an earlier outlook, which had Dallas nearing 95 degrees Tuesday. Hoodline previously reported that the heat index could reach 101; the latest forecast puts it near 99.
Rain Chance Stays Low
Wednesday looks even warmer, with a high near 93 and heat index values potentially reaching 101. A slight chance of rain showers is forecast between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., but the odds remain low at about 20%, so most Dallas neighborhoods should stay dry.
Wednesday night should turn mostly clear with a low around 72. Thursday remains sunny and warm near 90 degrees before the weather pattern makes a sharp turn late in the day.
A Sharp Cooldown Is On The Way
A cold front is expected to move through North Texas late Thursday night into Friday morning. Behind it, Friday is expected to bring cooler conditions and gusty northerly winds.
Friday night’s low is expected to be near 58. The weekend is expected to be cooler and drier.
