Salt Lake City's biggest indie music weekend just got its marching orders for 2027. Organizers revealed Wednesday that Deftones, The Strokes, Jungle, Fontaines D.C. and Slayyyter will headline the eighth annual Kilby Block Party, set for May 14-16 at the Utah State Fairpark.
The festival's organizers, concert booking company S&S Presents, announced the official lineup Wednesday morning, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. The 2027 edition will feature 70 artists total, with some names still to be revealed closer to the event. Beyond the headliners, the announced bill includes Two Door Cinema Club, Phantogram and Current Joys, with more acts expected to be added before showtime.
A Bigger Bill Takes Shape
Other outlets reporting on the announcement filled in more of the roster. Lambgoat confirmed that Idles and Joyce Manor are also among the featured performers for the 2027 edition, joining Deftones, The Strokes and the rest of the announced lineup. The eighth annual festival will take place at the Utah State Fairpark in Salt Lake City, the outlet noted, continuing the event's run at the fairgrounds.
If anyone's keeping track of the franchise's roots, Kilby Block Party has grown considerably since it began in 2019 as a literal block party celebrating Salt Lake City's beloved all-ages venue, Kilby Court, according to the festival's own about page. Kilby Court itself will mark its 28th year of operation in 2027, a milestone tied directly to the festival that bears its name.
Early-Bird Tickets Already Gone
Anyone hoping to snag a discount missed their window. Early-bird sale tickets for 2027 are already sold out, per the Tribune's report. A three-day-pass presale began Wednesday, October 28, at noon MT, before general ticket sales begin Thursday at 10 a.m. Mountain Time, according to Lambgoat.
Why Kilby Keeps Growing
Part of the reason ticket demand runs hot is the scale the festival has reached. Kilby Block Party attracted 90,000 fans to Salt Lake City over its three-day run in 2026, according to the Daily Utah Chronicle. The festival describes itself as the largest indie music festival ever held in Salt Lake City, drawing roughly 30,000 attendees per day, according to its own about page.
That turnout translates into real money for the state. The 2026 festival drew 16,000 visitors from outside Utah who spent $24.7 million in the state, the Tribune reported. Organizers say the event contributed $33.5 million to Utah's GDP, generated more than $3 million in tax revenue and created 419 jobs for Utah residents last year.
With early-bird passes gone and a headliner slate that includes a two-time Grammy-winning act in Deftones alongside The Strokes and Jungle, Kilby Block Party's eighth year is shaping up to test whether Salt Lake City's fairgrounds can handle even bigger crowds than before. Organizers have said more lineup names are coming before the gates open next May.
