Four men were shot as they left a building in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood late Friday night, struck by gunfire from inside a white sedan that then sped off, according to police. The shooting happened just before 11:15 p.m. in the 4000 block of West 26th Street, near Pulaski Road, leaving victims with wounds to the leg, foot, hand and arm.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the four men were exiting the building when the sedan pulled up and someone inside opened fire before fleeing south on Pulaski Road. Chicago police reported that a drive-by shooter injured four people on the city’s southwest side, with all four victims listed in good condition.
The specific injuries and ages of the victims have been detailed with some differences across outlets. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that a 56-year-old man was shot in the leg, a 26-year-old man was struck in the foot, and a 25-year-old man was shot in the hand. A fourth victim, 19, was wounded in the arm and transported himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, while the other three men were also taken there, per the same account.
Conflicting Reports on Victims' Ages
Not every outlet agrees on the exact age range of the men involved. WGN-TV reported the victims were between 19 and 54 years old, while CBS News Chicago said the range stretched from 19 to 56, with all four being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in good condition. The discrepancy remains unresolved in the public record.
No one has been taken into custody, according to reports by the Chicago Sun-Times, WGN and CBS News Chicago. WGN and CBS News Chicago reported that Area Four detectives are investigating the shooting. Authorities have not released additional details about a motive or suspect.
Latest in a String of Little Village Shootings
The Friday night shooting adds to a tense recent stretch in Little Village. A 22-year-old woman was shot and killed in the neighborhood in the 2800 block of West 23rd Street the prior week, according to ABC7 Chicago. Elsewhere in the city, three people were wounded in a South Chicago drive-by on September 24, when police said a passenger in a silver SUV opened fire in the 8700 block of South Commercial Avenue, per the Chicago Sun-Times.
For now, the four men wounded Friday night are expected to recover, and investigators continue working the case with no arrests announced.
