Chicago is starting Halloween with light rain, cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-50s. Scattered showers are expected through the morning before easing into a few isolated sprinkles later Saturday, with a high near 62 and temperatures slipping toward 60 during the afternoon.
Rain chances will be highest early, but the day is not shaping up as a total washout. Southeast winds around 10 mph could gust up to 20 mph, while new rainfall should stay below a tenth of an inch.
Showers Fade Before Evening Plans
Showers should become more scattered around midday and increasingly isolated through the afternoon. Saturday night brings only a slight chance of rain before midnight, followed by cloudy skies and a low near 54.
The updated outlook is less wet than the earlier Halloween forecast, which had called for a higher chance of rain. For the latest local forecast, the National Weather Service Chicago office listed no watches, warnings or advisories for the area.
Sunday Offers A Brief Break
Sunday looks mostly cloudy but mild, with a high near 65 and only a small chance of rain. The break may be brief: Monday brings another chance of showers, followed by a warmer Tuesday near 70 with rain showers and stronger south winds.
Rain chances remain elevated Tuesday night and Wednesday before temperatures ease back into the lower 60s later in the week. In short, Saturday calls for a light jacket and some rain tolerance, while the more persistent wet weather appears to be waiting for the workweek.
