Brooklyn's dogs are about to live better than most of their owners. K9 Resorts is opening its first New York City location in Dumbo with a Founders Suite that runs $1,000 a night, exclusively for dogs, complete with a private chauffeur and a filet mignon dinner.
The suite requires a three-night minimum stay, pushing the starting cost to $3,000, according to Time Out. Guests arrive via private chauffeured transportation to and from the resort, then settle into a private suite decked out with gold wallpaper, a chandelier, luxury bowls and a plush bed. Dinner is an in-suite filet mignon, followed by an ice cream turndown amenity before bed.
Sleep itself gets the five-star treatment too. The suite's wellness offerings include sound therapy. Daytime enrichment includes K9 Fit Play and an LED therapy mat, rounding out what K9 Resorts is billing as a wellness-forward stay rather than a simple boarding visit.
Checkout gifts include Les Poochs fragrance, Wagyu treats and a premium dental care set.
The pricing is a steep jump from K9 Resorts' standard offerings. Regular overnight accommodations at the company are advertised at $89 to $159 per night, making the Founders Suite's $1,000 nightly rate many times higher than the typical stay, the report notes.
A 10,000-Square-Foot Facility, Cage-Free and Climate-Controlled
Beyond the headline-grabbing suite, the broader Dumbo facility spans 10,000 square feet, with indoor and outdoor play areas, cage-free overnight accommodations, hospital-grade air filtration and professionally trained staff, the article states. It includes six Luxury Suites and 65 Executive Rooms, with capacity for up to 80 overnight guests and 100 daycare dogs daily.
An earlier report on the project described a different footprint: Commercial Observer wrote in 2024 that K9 Resorts planned to open a 16,187-square-foot location in Dumbo, with asking rent on the lease set at $42 per square foot. The two figures for the facility's size have not been reconciled.
The Founders Suite is set to launch October 12, while Patch reported the facility would officially open Oct. 3.
No Overnight Staff, But Round-the-Clock Monitoring
K9 Resorts' own pricing page for the Dumbo location describes its luxury suites and executive rooms as cage-free options for overnight stays, part of what the company calls an all-inclusive, luxury dog boarding experience. The page also notes that staff are on-site from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and that the facility does not have staff on-site overnight, relying instead on video surveillance, a central-station alarm and a fire system after hours.
The Dumbo opening fits into a broader pattern in the pet-care industry. Commercial Observer's 2024 reporting described a growing trend of “luxury” pet hotels opening around the country, offering more upscale accommodations than traditional kennels — a shift that K9 Resorts' Founders Suite, with its chauffeurs and diamond jewelry, pushes about as far as it can go.
