Earls Kitchen + Bar's longtime perch inside Dadeland Mall has reopened following a major renovation, giving the Kendall restaurant new lighting, new textures, greenery and a wave of artwork from local and international artists. The 400-seat restaurant first opened on the mall's second-floor dining wing back in 2014, and this refresh marks its biggest transformation since then.

According to the Miami Herald, the updated space now features work from artists Raymond Saa, Anna Nunez, Nick Mashie and Nina Ramos. That approach lines up with Earls' general design philosophy in the United States, which leans on real wood, stone and regionally sourced art instead of standardized decor, according to a report from restaurant development + design magazine.

The Dadeland location originally opened as an 8,500-square-foot, 400-seat restaurant in March 2014, according to BCBusiness, arriving as part of the Canadian chain's push into major U.S. markets. Earls has since gone on to open a second South Florida outpost, an 8,400-square-foot restaurant at Miami Worldcenter in downtown Miami that debuted in April 2025, according to World Red Eye — a sign the brand sees Kendall and downtown Miami as complementary rather than competing footholds.

New Dishes and Drinks on the Fall Menu

Along with the design overhaul, Earls Dadeland rolled out seasonal fall dishes, the Miami Herald reports. The new menu lineup includes lobster cacio e pepe, jumbo shrimp cocktail, sticky Korean ribs, seafood towers, spicy Calabrian pasta, steaks and sushi, with bourbon pecan pie rounding things out for dessert.

The bar program got its own refresh too. New cocktails include a Diablo Margarita made with Jose Cuervo tequila, Union mezcal, raspberry, strawberry and lime, plus a Carajillo Old Fashioned built on Bulleit bourbon, Licor 43, Kahlua and chocolate bitters. For guests skipping alcohol, the menu also offers non-alcoholic options including a spicy piña margarita.

A Mall Built for Dining

The second-level wing where Earls sits wasn't an afterthought — it was purpose-built. Dadeland Mall added a 102,000-square-foot expansion designed specifically to house elevated restaurant concepts with outdoor patio space along Kendall Drive, according to CBS Miami's coverage of the project. That wing replaced former department store space near the mall's main entrance and gave Dadeland a dedicated dining hub distinct from its retail core.

Dadeland Mall itself dates back to October 1962, when it opened as a 535,000-square-foot open-air shopping center, according to Wikipedia. It has since grown into a nearly 1.5-million-square-foot enclosed complex co-owned by Simon Property Group and Morgan Stanley. The property has a track record of reinvesting in itself — Simon Property Group previously completed a multimillion-dollar, 19,298-square-foot renovation of the mall's food court and public amenities in 2015, according to The Real Deal, part of an ongoing effort to keep the 71-acre commercial site competitive.

A Family Hospitality Empire Rooted in Edmonton

Earls Kitchen + Bar was founded in 1982 in Edmonton, Alberta, by father-and-son duo Leroy “Bus” Fuller and Stanley Earl Fuller, and has since grown into a privately held company with more than 70 locations across Canada and the United States, per Wikipedia. The Fuller family's hospitality reach extends well beyond Earls — Bus Fuller's son Jeff Fuller founded Joey Restaurants, as Hoodline previously reported on Joey's expansion.
