Mercedes-Benz Stadium turns entirely red tonight as the Atlanta Falcons host their first-ever stadium-wide Red Out, asking fans to wear red for the primetime matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The event doubles as a tribute to defensive great John Abraham, who will be inducted as the 15th member of the Falcons Ring of Honor at halftime.
According to WSB-TV, the Falcons announced the Red Out as the first stadium-wide event of its kind at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, encouraging fans to arrive early for a full night of festivities. The pregame Dirty Birds Nest tailgate kicks off at 4:30 p.m. at Founders Green, with fans set to march to the stadium at 7 p.m. Freddie Falcon is scheduled to perform a highline stunt before kickoff, and fans were asked to be in their seats by 8 p.m. ahead of the 8:20 p.m. kickoff.
Founders Green itself is a relatively new addition to the neighborhood. The half-acre public park in South Downtown Atlanta opened in May 2026 after being converted from a former parking lot, according to Urbanize Atlanta, part of a broader multi-block revitalization effort led by developer Atlanta Ventures.
End Zones and Jerseys Go All Red
The visual theme extends onto the field itself. For the Red Out, the Falcons painted the end zones at Mercedes-Benz Stadium red and paired red home jerseys with black pants, per ColorWay Sports, part of an updated 2026 uniform schedule that reintroduced the red home look this season. The Falcons are wearing those red uniforms in their first season back in red, according to the WSB-TV report.
Food remains a fan-friendly part of the night's appeal. Falcons concessions include the number 55 Abraham Loaded Tots at Molly B's on the 100 level, loaded with tater tots, pulled pork, Carolina BBQ sauce, smoked cheddar, pickled jalapeños and scallions, as detailed in the WSB-TV article. Also on offer is a $20 board at Molly B's in Section 339 featuring a hot dog, popcorn, pretzel, pizza, nachos, a chicken tenders and fries basket, and a refillable Coca-Cola cup.
That pricing fits a pattern Mercedes-Benz Stadium has held for nearly a decade. The stadium introduced its Fan First pricing model when it opened in 2017 and kept baseline prices unchanged for nine consecutive years through 2026, offering $2 hot dogs, popcorn and refillable sodas, the stadium's report notes, a model that stood in contrast to typical major sports venues and was even retained for 2026 FIFA World Cup matches.
Honoring a Franchise Sack Leader
Abraham's induction anchors the night's ceremonial side. He recorded 68.5 sacks in 102 games over seven seasons in Atlanta, giving him the official franchise sack record in NFL record books, according to the Albany Herald. Abraham was acquired via a three-team trade from the New York Jets in 2006 and anchored defenses that made three consecutive playoff appearances during his tenure.
Still, Pro Football Hall of Famer Claude Humphrey holds the team's overall sack record with 99.5, accumulated during an era before sacks were officially tracked by the league starting in 1982, the Albany Herald reports. Humphrey, inducted into the Falcons Ring of Honor in 2008, served as Atlanta's premier pass rusher across 10 seasons with the Falcons, earning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 1968 and six Pro Bowl selections, according to the Atlanta Falcons. He died at age 77.
Abraham's impact went beyond the sack column. Beyond his franchise-leading official tally, he forced 25 fumbles and recorded 115 quarterback hits during his seven-year tenure with the Falcons from 2006 to 2012, according to Sports Illustrated. Those 115 hits rank second in franchise history since 2000, behind only defensive tackle Grady Jarrett.
Abraham isn't entering the Ring of Honor alone this year. Former offensive lineman Bill Fralic will join him as the 16th member, with Fralic set to be posthumously inducted during Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per 11Alive. Fralic was a four-time Pro Bowl guard in the 1980s who died of cancer in 2018.
A Franchise Still Mourning a Recent Loss
The ceremony also arrives amid a somber stretch for the Ring of Honor fraternity. Six-time Pro Bowl center Jeff Van Note, who played a franchise-record 18 seasons in Atlanta and was inducted into the Ring of Honor in 2006, died earlier this month at 80. Van Note played 246 games for Atlanta between 1969 and 1986, including 155 consecutive starts.
Sunday night's contest marks the Falcons' third consecutive primetime appearance, broadcast nationally on NBC's Sunday Night Football with announcers Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth and Melissa Stark, according to AtlantaFi. Atlanta entered the Week 5 matchup tied for the NFC South lead following back-to-back primetime wins.
The spotlight extends well beyond the field. With the new Founders Green tailgate space and tonight's tribute to one of the franchise's defensive cornerstones, the Red Out gives Atlanta fans plenty to cheer about before the ball is even snapped.
