The planned cafe would occupy the former Mona's Sweet Spot storefront on Devon Avenue. Mona's Sweet Spot sold cakes and other sweet items there before closing.

To legally sell from home, Rosario obtained a City of Chicago cottage license, which allowed her to bake and sell cupcakes and other items directly to customers. In 2022, Illinois expanded home-based baking under the Home-to-Market Act, according to the Chicago Department of Public Health. The department says cottage food businesses may sell online, through home delivery and at pop-ups.

The Flower Cupcake Co.'s online pricing lists floral and standard cupcakes. According to the bakery's pre-order pricing page, six classic and six premium cupcakes cost $168, while a dozen premium cupcakes costs $180. Standard cupcakes are sold individually for $4.50 or in a six-pack for $27. The bakery also offers floral cupcake arrangements for pre-order.
Shoppers with dietary restrictions should take note: the bakery offers a vegan chocolate cupcake option but does not provide gluten-free items, and it operates out of a facility that handles nuts and gluten, according to the same pricing and FAQ pages. Rosario also hosts workshops teaching customers how to create their own flower cupcakes.
Filling a Longtime Edgebrook Storefront
The Devon Avenue building dates to 1943, according to Realtor.com property records, making it one of the Edgebrook corridor's mid-20th-century commercial storefronts. Mona's Sweet Spot operated there from November 2020 until it closed at the end of 2023.
The planned cafe will bring The Flower Cupcake Co. to the community. It remains to be seen how Edgebrook's customer base responds to the bakery's specialty pricing once the storefront is up and running.
