New Orleans started Wednesday under fog and mist, but the gray morning is expected to give way to bright sunshine and another hot October afternoon. Temperatures will climb to around 85 degrees before a sharp weekend cooldown brings breezier, more fall-like weather.
A Dense Fog Advisory was in effect through 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday for parts of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi. Visibility may drop to a quarter-mile or less in spots, so drivers should slow down, use headlights and leave extra distance ahead, according to the National Weather Service.
Fog Clears Into Another Sunny, Steamy Afternoon
Fog is expected to linger until late morning before skies turn sunny, with no rain in the forecast and northeast winds generally staying between 0 and 10 mph. The temperature could reach 86 degrees Wednesday afternoon, although readings may ease back toward the mid-80s later in the day.
Summer Heat Holds On Through Friday
Thursday looks much the same, with sunny skies, a high near 85 and a low around 71 overnight. Friday should remain mostly sunny with another high near 85, though a cold front arriving late in the day will set up the weekend’s noticeable change, continuing the pattern outlined in an earlier Hoodline forecast.
Weekend Winds Bring New Orleans Its First Real Taste Of Fall
Saturday is forecast to be sunny, with a high in the low 70s, and stronger winds are expected over the weekend. Sunday stays sunny with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s, making the weekend feel considerably less summer-like than the week’s opening stretch.
Rain chances remain low through the weekend, and Monday could bring a small chance of showers after 7 a.m. Monday’s high is expected to reach the low to mid-80s, with southeasterly onshore flow early next week.
