Grand Rapids gets one more sunny, mild day Tuesday before rain chances return at night and a sharper fall chill arrives by Friday. The city should reach about 75 degrees, with west-southwest winds of 10 to 14 mph and gusts near 29 mph adding some extra energy to the afternoon.
The National Weather Service forecasts low clouds over the northern half of the area late Tuesday morning and early afternoon, clearing by evening, while no land-based watches or warnings are posted for the area. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for Lake Michigan waters through 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Rain Returns Late Tuesday
Tuesday evening stays mostly clear at first, but showers are possible mainly after midnight. The overnight low should settle near 55 degrees, with temperatures rising toward 58 by morning and rainfall generally staying below a tenth of an inch.
A Wetter, Windier Second Half
Wednesday offers a brief reset with partly sunny skies and a high near 68, but the forecast turns wetter Thursday. Showers are likely after 8 a.m. Thursday, with a high near 64 degrees, and rain chances continue Thursday night before a cooler Friday brings more showers, northwest winds and a high near 57.
Friday could be especially blustery near the lakeshore, where gusts around 40 mph are plausible. The timing and colder finish represent a meaningful update from the earlier warm-week forecast covered by Hoodline.
Weekend Weather Calms Down
The forecast improves quickly after Friday, with sunny skies and a high near 56 on Saturday. Sunday looks sunny near 60 degrees, followed by dry, seasonable weather into early next week.
