A 17-year-old girl told Hollywood police she was sexually assaulted inside a car parked in the 3600 block of North Ocean Drive, and now two Broward County men are behind bars in connection with the case. Jevaun Noel, 25, of North Lauderdale, was arrested on October 21, while Samauri Moton, 22, of Pompano Beach, was arrested days later on Thursday, October 29.
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, jail records show Noel was charged with two counts of sexual battery of a person older than 12 but younger than 18 and two counts of lewd or lascivious touching of certain minors. Moton faces similar charges along with one count of false imprisonment, the same records indicate. As of the Sun Sentinel's report, neither man had entered a plea.
The alleged assault itself dates back to January 16; Hollywood police officers met with the girl at the Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center in Miami-Dade County on January 17, according to a probable-cause affidavit cited by the outlet. She told investigators she had met two men at a park in Miami Gardens the night before, and that the group arrived in Hollywood about 30 minutes after leaving Miami Gardens.
A Months-Long Online Connection Through Wizz
Before any of that happened, the girl said she had been communicating for a few months with someone she knew only as “mari” through Wizz, an app described on the company's website as a Gen Z-oriented digital hangout and friend app. She told police those messages were never sexual in nature. Moton was later identified as the person she knew as “mari,” per the affidavit referenced by the Sun Sentinel.
The girl said she had never talked to or met a second man who was introduced to her that night as “von.” On the night in question, Moton allegedly suggested that he and the girl go to Hollywood Beach, and Noel was reportedly in the driver's seat when she entered Moton's car, the affidavit states.
What the Affidavit Describes Happening in the Car
Once they arrived, Moton allegedly told the girl that his friend wanted her and guided her into the backseat while Noel waited inside the car, according to the probable-cause affidavit. The document states that Noel then sexually assaulted her inside the vehicle, while Moton remained outside the car and did not intervene.
The girl told police that “von” — the man she said she had never met before — told her that stopping when she said stop meant it technically was not rape, according to the affidavits described in the Sun Sentinel's reporting. She said Noel apologized during the drive back and that Moton offered to give her counseling. She was later dropped off near the park in Miami Gardens.
DNA Testing Allegedly Links Noel to the Case
Months passed before any arrests followed. According to the affidavits, DNA testing conducted in March allegedly matched Noel to DNA collected during the girl's sexual-assault examination. Noel was arrested in October, months after the testing.
Noel was being held at the Paul Rein Detention Facility as of October 30, while Moton was held at the Broward Main Jail the same day, per jail records cited in the report. A separate account from Local 10 similarly noted that the two men faced charges in Broward County over the alleged rape of a teenage girl who lives in Miami-Dade County.
The case underscores how an online connection made through a youth-oriented app allegedly led to an in-person meeting that ended in a reported assault in Hollywood. No additional details about attorneys, bond amounts, or upcoming court dates were available in the records reviewed for this report.
