A Honda sedan crashed into the front of Fanny's Jewelry at 6981 N. Clark St. early Tuesday, damaging the Rogers Park storefront. Burglars took property from inside before fleeing in another vehicle. Police said no one was hurt in the crash-and-grab, but surveillance video from the scene showed an entire wall of the shop simply gone.

According to CBS News, the burglars took property from inside the jewelry store and fled the scene in another nearby vehicle after ramming the Honda sedan through the storefront. A vehicle was nearby. Belmont Area detectives are investigating the incident.

Wall Torn Away in the Crash

Video reviewed after the break-in showed the scale of the damage, with an entire section of Fanny's Jewelry's wall missing where the Honda tore through, per the same CBS News account. CBS News described the incident as a crash-and-grab burglary.

Police have not released details on what exactly was taken from the store or its value, and no suspect descriptions or arrests have been disclosed in connection with the Fanny's Jewelry break-in. The getaway vehicle used by the burglars after abandoning the Honda has likewise not been identified publicly.

Part of a Larger Pattern of Business Burglaries

Earlier in 2026, reports described crews of four or five suspects in connection with business burglaries in Chicago.

Two of those earlier incidents were logged in Rogers Park itself, on the 6500 block of North Sheridan Road — one around 2:51 a.m. on January 15 and another around 3:42 a.m. on February 26, according to the CBS News and WGN-TV reports, respectively.

A Violent Burglary and Crash Months Earlier

The neighborhood also saw a burglary turn into a multi-vehicle crash in July, just blocks from Fanny's Jewelry. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that around 11:20 p.m., four people entered a business through the back in the 6800 block of North Clark Street and drove off in a stolen red SUV. That SUV went on to strike a gray SUV, an occupied black SUV and two parked vehicles before slamming into a garage door, police told the paper. Four people riding in the black SUV were taken to hospitals in good condition, and officers who responded to an alarm at the business took one of the four burglary suspects into custody at the scene while three others ran away.

It remains unclear whether Tuesday's burglary at Fanny's Jewelry is connected to any of the earlier incidents reported across Rogers Park and the rest of the city this year. Belmont Area detectives continue to investigate the case.
