Minneapolis is waking up to clear skies Saturday before the city launches into an unusually hot and windy October afternoon. Temperatures are expected to climb from around 60 degrees near daybreak to 84 degrees by late afternoon, with sunshine holding strong throughout the day.
Saturday Brings Heat And Strong Winds
Winds are forecast at 15 to 25 knots, with gusts. The latest forecast is a notable upgrade from Hoodline’s earlier forecast, which already flagged a warm, blustery weekend. The National Weather Service notes fire-weather concerns, especially in western Minnesota, amid dry air and strong winds.
Sunday Could Challenge A Record
Sunday, October 11, should stay sunny and nearly as warm, with a high near 81 and south winds around 10 mph. Sunday night turns mostly cloudy, but the low should remain mild near 64.
Cooler Weather Takes Over Next Week
Monday brings a sharp step down to a high in the 50s to lower 60s, along with a 20% chance of rain showers after 1 p.m. The cooldown continues Tuesday, when partly sunny skies and a high near 63 are expected.
Rain chances increase with a frontal passage Wednesday night into Thursday, with showers possible. Thursday’s high is forecast near 61, followed by a cooler Friday with a high around 55.
