Atlanta is waking up Friday under mostly cloudy, humid skies, with temperatures around 68 degrees and a southeast breeze of 5 to 9 mph. Morning fog remains possible in parts of the metro, but clouds should give way to a mostly sunny afternoon near 88 degrees. A few showers or thunderstorms could pop up after 2 p.m.
Friday’s daytime rain chance is around 30%, but the weekend turns markedly wetter. Saturday will reach about 85 degrees with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, while Saturday night brings a 70% chance of storms and a low near 68. The setup is a sharper turn from Hoodline’s Thursday forecast, with the heaviest weather now lining up for Sunday and Monday.
Sunday Looks Like The Weekend’s Wettest Day
Showers and thunderstorms are expected across Atlanta on Sunday, with a 90% chance of precipitation, cloudy skies and a high near 74 degrees. Sunday night stays unsettled, with another 90% rain chance and temperatures falling to around 64. Outdoor plans may need a serious backup option, especially if repeated downpours develop.
The National Weather Service says deep Gulf moisture and a stalled front could produce multiple inches of rain across Georgia from Sunday into early next week. Forecasters are watching for locally heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding, although the exact placement of the heaviest rain remains uncertain; no watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the Atlanta forecast area.
Cooler, More Fall-Like Weather Arrives Tuesday
Monday keeps a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 77 degrees, before a cooler pattern settles in. Tuesday should be mostly sunny with a high near 73, followed by a high near 71 Wednesday. Overnight lows will dip to around 54 degrees Tuesday night and 53 degrees Wednesday night, finally giving Atlanta a more convincing taste of fall.
