International Tap House is closing the doors on its Delmar Loop location next month, ending a nearly five-year run on Delmar Boulevard near Skinker Boulevard. Owners say the bar's last day of business will be November 15.
According to First Alert 4, the announcement came in a social media post from the owners confirming the shutdown date. The outlet reports the Delmar Loop bar has been open for nearly five years, and that iTAP continues to operate its location in Soulard, which will not be affected by the closure.
The Delmar Loop outpost first opened in August 2021, according to International Tap House's own website, making it a relative newcomer to the stretch of Delmar Boulevard compared to some of the district's longer-standing businesses. No reason for the closure has been given, and it is not yet clear what will happen to the space after the bar pours its last pint in 16 days.
A Loop That's Seen Both Growth and Turnover
The closure lands in a district that has otherwise been on something of an upswing. More than two dozen new businesses have opened in the Delmar Loop since 2024, per the same First Alert 4 report from last October, and East Loop Community Improvement District executive director Samantha Samugala said the area draws roughly 4 million visits a year.
That growth hasn't meant every business has been able to stick around. The same report detailed how The Blue Ocean, a longtime Loop restaurant, said it was forced to leave after missed rent payments during the pandemic, with its team hoping to find a new building elsewhere in the Loop. A separate closures roundup from stltoday.com also noted Magic Mini Golf's closure in the Delmar Loop, a sign that turnover has touched more than one corner of the neighborhood even as new storefronts keep arriving.
What's Next for iTAP
For now, iTAP's footprint in St. Louis narrows to its Soulard bar, with no word yet on whether the Delmar Loop brand will resurface elsewhere in the city. Patrons looking to visit the Delmar Loop location have until November 15 before the taps go dry for good.
