Friday starts near 70 degrees under clear skies, but the valley is forecast to reach 95 by afternoon. Sunny, dry weather and light winds are expected, with no rain in the forecast.
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas forecasts east-northeast winds of 1 to 6 mph Friday. A Flash Flood Warning is active. The mid-to-upper 90s forecast continues into next week, following the near-100-degree conditions described in Thursday’s Hoodline forecast.
Afternoon Heat Shapes the Weekend
Weekend afternoons are forecast to bring more sunshine and highs in the mid-to-upper 90s: about 95 degrees Saturday and 97 Sunday. Winds are expected to stay light, and skies clear.
Nights will offer less relief, with lows near 75 to 77 degrees. For outdoor plans, errands or work, the cooler parts of the day may be more comfortable; afternoon activity calls for water, shade and regular breaks.
The Forecast Stays Hot Into Next Week
The forecast calls for highs near 95 degrees Monday and Tuesday, then about 97 Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to remain above normal through the workweek.
Climate Records Put the Heat in Context
For climate comparisons, the National Weather Service identifies Harry Reid International Airport as the official climate station for the Las Vegas Valley. A separate heat episode in June 2017 was far hotter than this week’s forecast: the National Weather Service says well-above-normal temperatures began June 16, and Las Vegas tied its all-time high of 117 degrees on June 20. This week’s forecast highs are in the mid-to-upper 90s.
Afternoon humidity is forecast to fall into the teens and low 20s. Rain chances remain very low, reaching 2% Monday. The combination of dry air and warm afternoons makes hydration and shade important for anyone spending time outside.
