More than 40 travel companies are set to fill the Davis Conference Center in Layton on Oct. 17, when Morris Columbus hosts its Fall Travel Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with cruise credits, fare discounts and free consultations up for grabs. The event is free to attend, and organizers say it's built for anyone plotting their next getaway, from a weekend cruise to an overseas tour.
The lineup includes cruise lines, airlines, tour companies, safari providers, rail companies, hotels and tourism boards, according to KUTV. Among the confirmed names are Viking Cruises, Princess Cruises, Delta Vacations, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean, per the same report. Attendees can sit down for free consultations with travel advisors, browse discounts, catch information seminars and enter chances to win travel prizes.
What's Actually On the Table
The savings attached to the expo go beyond vague promises of discounts. Star Clippers is offering up to $500 in onboard credit per cabin for sailings booked by Sept. 30, 2026, plus a complimentary bottle of champagne, according to morriscolumbus.com. The tiered credit runs from $300 on shorter three- to six-night sailings up to the full $500 on trips of 10 nights or more.
Celebrity Cruises is dangling second-guest discounts along with free fares for select third through fifth guests, and the site notes a $100 onboard credit for anyone booking a Veranda stateroom or higher between Oct. 17 and Oct. 31, 2026. Princess, meanwhile, is promoting up to 40% off cruise fares, $400 in instant savings and free fares for third and fourth guests. CIE Tours is offering savings of up to $600 per couple across its guided vacation lineup, the same source states.
Hotel stays are part of the mix too. The Inn at Old Nauvoo is offering a free third night on two-night stays booked from October through April, or a free fourth night on three-night stays from May through September, when booked directly through Morris Columbus Travel. Separately, Travel And Tour World reports that the expo's broader slate of promotional offers includes discounts of up to 35% on travel packages, free international airfare and reduced deposits.
A Pleasant Grove Open House Follows a Week Later
Morris Columbus isn't stopping at Layton. The company is marking the grand opening of a new Pleasant Grove location with an open house on Oct. 24, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new site, which sits just off the freeway, per KUTV's report. The open house will offer meetings with travel advisors and company representatives, along with food and chances to win prizes.
Both events feed into the same pitch: Morris Columbus operates a travel advisory business, and the company frames its expos as a chance to meet guest speakers from its travel partners and tap into deals only available through Morris Columbus Travel, according to the company's own events page. Larry Gelwix, described by KUTV as a “getaway guru,” is tied to the brand's travel guidance.
Travel And Tour World also notes that the expo is meant to pair discounts and advice with a look at current travel trends, giving attendees insight alongside the savings. The outlet's listing additionally points to earlier Morris Columbus expos held in January 2026 at Black Desert Resort in Ivins and at the Mountain America Exposition Center in Sandy, suggesting the Layton date is part of a broader rotation of events around Utah.
For now, the Layton expo and the Pleasant Grove open house give Utah travelers two chances this month to compare cruise lines, tour operators and hotel deals under one roof, with free consultations built into both stops. KUTV's segment on the expo aired as part of Fresh Living, which airs every weekday at 1 p.m. MST on CBS Channel 2 or YouTube.
