Linea Caffe opened its third San Francisco location on Saturday, setting up shop at 3690 18th St. in the Mission, right next to Bi-Rite Creamery and a short walk from Dolores Park. The new cafe is running a soft opening with a limited menu, including an organic reserve espresso and a single-origin Ethiopia Suke Quto espresso, alongside pastries from Dynamo Donuts and Neighbor Bakehouse.

A Third Address for a Growing Local Roaster

The soft opening runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for now, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, which reported that the Dolores Park-adjacent address gives Linea a trio of San Francisco shops, adding to its existing roastery and cafe on Potrero Hill and its original Mission District cafe. Linea Caffe was founded in 2013 by veteran coffee roaster Andrew Barnett, and the company has built its identity around regenerative, organic and quality coffee ever since.

That organic focus is not new marketing spin. Linea says on its own site that it finalized the transition of its entire coffee inventory to 100% organic offerings in 2023, the same year the company became a Certified B Corporation and a certified California Green Business, according to Linea Caffe. The roaster has also described its approach as rooted in Organic, Regenerative, and Biodynamic farming practices, working directly with producers who grow coffee under those standards.

National Recognition Fuels the Expansion

The New York Times Wirecutter featured Linea in its 2025 list of favorite coffee subscriptions. Wirecutter writer Lesley Stockton ordered popular house blends from almost 20 roasters before deciding which subscriptions to test. Stockton went further, declaring that Linea's Little Wing blend was possibly the most elegant and balanced cup of coffee she had ever had.

That kind of praise has followed Linea for years. The roaster has previously been named one of Food & Wine Magazine's Best 11 Indie Coffee Shops in America, along with recognition from San Francisco Magazine and Thrillist, according to Linea Caffe's own announcement of its Potrero Hill roastery cafe. That Potrero Hill location was planned with indoor seating for up to 60 people plus additional sidewalk seating when it was first announced.

Neighborhood Fit Near Dolores Park

The new Mission cafe's location puts it in good company for neighborhood foot traffic, tucked beside Bi-Rite Creamery and close enough to Dolores Park for an easy coffee run before or after a picnic. Pairing the espresso bar with pastries from Dynamo Donuts and Neighbor Bakehouse gives the soft-opening menu a distinctly San Francisco lineup, blending a long-established local roaster with two other well-regarded bakeries. For now, the limited hours and streamlined menu suggest Linea is easing into the space before a fuller rollout.
