A man was rushed to a local hospital in stable condition after a shooting Saturday night at Alamance Crossing in Burlington, North Carolina, leaving investigators piecing together what happened on a stretch of Boston Drive usually known for shopping and dining, not gunfire. Police have not released his name, and the extent of his injuries remains unclear.
According to WXII12, the Burlington Police Department confirmed it is investigating a shooting at Alamance Crossing, the sprawling shopping center that draws crowds from across Alamance County. The station reported that officers responded to Boston Drive around 8 p.m. after a reported shooting and found an injured man when they arrived. Other outlets offered slightly different timestamps for the response, with one report citing approximately 7:28 p.m. and another putting the call at about 7:30 p.m., underscoring just how fluid the early details of a breaking investigation can be.
Officers who responded to the 900 block of Boston Drive discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound, the station's report notes, and he was subsequently taken to a local hospital. WXLV reported that police secured the scene as part of the response, and that the shooting investigation remains in its early stages.
Police Believe The Shooting Was Isolated
Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated event, per the same account from the station's coverage, and no other injuries were reported. Burlington police have released no additional details beyond confirming the basic circumstances of the incident, leaving the man's identity, the nature of his injuries, and any potential suspect or motive unconfirmed as the case continues to develop.
This shooting comes just weeks after a separate, far more severe incident rattled the city. Burlington police investigated an overnight shooting on Elm Street that left one man dead and two minors injured early one Sunday morning, according to ABC11. In that case, the two injured minors were taken to local hospitals, with one in stable condition and the other in critical condition, and investigators likewise said that shooting was isolated with no ongoing threat to the community.
