Fall Fest is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Parc des Familles in Marrero, with a free pumpkin for every attendee, according to WGNO. The park's cypress trails and open fields will provide the setting for the West Bank gathering.
The program also includes live music, a farmers' market, food from local vendors, and activities and games for children, according to WGNO.
Hayrides will take visitors along the park's cypress trails. The festival will also have a pumpkin patch, with a free pumpkin for each attendee, and a corn maze, the station reports.
Carnival Rides, Cocktails and a Student Art Showcase
The amusement options include a carousel, Ferris wheel, slides and inflatables, as well as balloon art and face painting. Stained Glass Wine House will serve cocktails at the event, according to the station's report.
Several local schools will present an art showcase, according to WGNO.
Trail Closures Ahead of the Festival
Preparing the grounds for the crowds means some regular park amenities will be off-limits for about a week. The disc golf course and mountain bike trail at Parc des Familles will be closed from Oct. 19 through Oct. 26, the station reports, giving crews time to set up and break down the festival footprint.
A long-term recreation project
Jefferson Parish Parks & Recreation describes Parc des Familles as a 610-acre recreational complex designed for active, passive and environmental activities. According to NOLA.com, the park was conceived in 2000 and has been a work in progress since then.
