The McMinnville Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward after a hit-and-run at Arms Apartments left investigators searching for an unidentified driver and truck. The incident happened on or about September 26, and police say they still need the public's help tracking down who was behind the wheel.
According to a McMinnville Police Department post, officers are seeking the public's help in locating or identifying the driver and truck involved in the hit-and-run at Arms Apartments. Detective Sgt. Katelyn Neal has been named as the point of contact for anyone with tips on the case. Those with information can reach her by email at [email protected] or by phone at 931-414-6709.
A related post from a Facebook account dedicated to helping identify suspects, MacPD.Help.ID, also circulated the department's request for assistance identifying both the driver and the truck. Beyond the date and location of the incident, police have not released additional details about the circumstances of the crash, the vehicle's description, or whether anyone was hurt.
Not the First Truck-Related Hit-and-Run This Year
This is not the first time this year that McMinnville police have asked the public for help with a hit-and-run involving a truck. In July, the department investigated a separate hit-and-run crash that occurred on a Monday, according to WSMV. In that case, police believed a tow truck was involved and released security footage showing a bright blue tow truck carrying a black pickup on its flatbed. Anyone with information on that earlier incident was asked to call the same number, 931-414-6709, that is now listed for the Arms Apartments case.
A fatal hit-and-run elsewhere in the area resulted in charges against a McMinnville man. Gary Driver, 49, was charged with criminal homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving a fatality, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol crash report cited by Fox Chattanooga. That case involved Mildred Herrin of Morrison, who was killed after being struck by a truck while weed-eating on her property. Fox Chattanooga reported that Driver's 1999 Chevrolet Silverado lost control, struck a tree, and then hit Herrin before the driver left the scene.
How to Help
For now, the September 26 hit-and-run at Arms Apartments remains unresolved, with police relying on tips from the public to move the investigation forward. Anyone with information about the driver or the truck involved is urged to contact Detective Sgt. Katelyn Neal directly.
