Memphis is heading into a clear, unusually warm Thursday, with temperatures near 61 degrees early and a high around 81. The calm, sunny stretch will continue Friday, with rain chances returning late in the day; Halloween weekend brings a wetter turn, with showers and thunderstorms becoming most likely Saturday night.
Afternoon Heat Comes With Fire Risk
Thursday will be mostly sunny with light southeast or east-southeast winds, generally below 5 knots during the day, while afternoon humidity falls into the 30s and low 40s. The National Weather Service Memphis office says dry fuels and low humidity will keep elevated fire-weather concerns in place through Friday.
No watches, warnings or advisories were listed Thursday morning, but outdoor flames still deserve extra caution. Residents should avoid unnecessary burning and take care with grills, cigarettes, matches and equipment that could create sparks while conditions remain dry.
Dry Friday, Wetter Halloween Setup
Friday will be clear and dry, with a high near 80 and a low around 62 Friday night under mostly cloudy skies. Saturday is forecast to be cloudy, with a high near 77 and a slight chance of showers.
The bigger change arrives Saturday night, when rain becomes more likely and the rain chance rises to about 60%. Sunday brings a 30% chance of showers before noon, then partly sunny skies with a high near 75, giving Halloween weekend a decidedly less predictable finish than the workweek.
Rain Chances Continue Into Next Week
Showers remain possible Monday before a generally wetter pattern sets in during the workweek. Tuesday brings a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms, while Wednesday is expected to be cooler, partly sunny and near 70 degrees.
The latest outlook from the National Weather Service favors a wetter pattern next week, with roughly 1 to 2 inches of rain possible across much of the Mid-South from Monday through Wednesday, though exact timing remains uncertain. That is a meaningful update to Hoodline’s earlier Memphis forecast, which focused on the dry stretch before the Halloween weekend shift.
