A 17-year-old was shot and killed near 39th and Lisbon on Milwaukee's north side Saturday night, and police arrested a 14-year-old in connection with the shooting. Officers were called to the scene around 9:40 p.m. Oct. 10, and the teen was pronounced dead there. Hours later, a second shooting left a 40-year-old hospitalized, with a suspect also in custody in that case.
According to CBS 58, the 17-year-old died following a shooting near 39th and Lisbon and was pronounced dead at the scene. Milwaukee police arrested a 14-year-old suspect in connection with the fatal shooting, the station reported, though the circumstances that led to the gunfire remained under investigation. No further details about what preceded the shooting had been released as of CBS 58's reporting.
The shooting occurred around 9:40 p.m. Oct. 10 near 39th Street and Lisbon Avenue, and the teen died at the scene. Investigators have not released details about what led to the shooting.
A Second Shooting Hours Later Near 27th and Oklahoma
A separate, unrelated shooting injured a 40-year-old near 27th Street and Oklahoma Avenue, according to WISN, which reported that officers responded shortly before midnight. The victim was taken to a hospital, and WISN reported the person was expected to recover. Police arrested a suspect in that case as well; WISN reported the person arrested was 26 years old.
A separate report on a different Milwaukee shooting that same weekend offers a conflicting detail worth noting for context, not for this case. In coverage of a Friday, Oct. 9 shooting that left a 47-year-old dead near 20th and Highland, the station's report described a 25-year-old arrested at the scene, with charges pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. That shooting is distinct from Saturday's two incidents, but the age discrepancy underscores why early arrest details in fast-moving cases can vary by outlet before official charging documents are filed.
Both Investigations Remain Open
Both the fatal shooting near 39th and Lisbon and the separate shooting near 27th and Oklahoma Avenue remain under active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Milwaukee police at (414) 935-7360, or to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS or through the P3 Tips app.
Part of a Broader, If Uneven, Trend
The weekend's violence comes even as citywide numbers point to a decline in shootings this year. As of Oct. 8, Milwaukee had recorded 84 homicides, down from 108 on the same date in 2025, and 325 non-deadly shootings, 99 fewer than at the same point last year, per WISN's reporting. Earlier in the year, Wisconsin Watch reported that homicides fell 30%, nonfatal shootings fell 27%, and carjackings fell 34% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. Violence prevention official Reggie Moore pointed to reductions in retaliatory shootings, group-based gun violence and youth-related gun violence as signs of progress, Wisconsin Watch reported.
Saturday's fatal shooting also follows other recent cases involving young victims and young suspects in Milwaukee. Last month, a 15-year-old boy identified as Robbiel L. Stokes was charged with first-degree intentional homicide after prosecutors alleged he shot 16-year-old classmate Cameron Bowen six times near Layton Boulevard and Greenfield Avenue, according to Hoodline's prior coverage. Bowen died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect had not been arrested as of the charge announcement despite an active warrant.
