Downtown Naperville restaurants are rolling out bite-sized deals this week as the city's first-ever Taste of Naperville runs through Oct. 18, giving diners a reason to try something new before holiday schedules take over. More than 20 restaurants are participating, with signature dishes priced at $5, $10, $15 and $20.

Dine Naperville is behind the downtown promotion. The event listing at Naperville.com describes the inaugural Taste of Naperville, while the Chicago Tribune, in its Naperville Sun report by Carolyn Stein, says more than two dozen restaurants are taking part. Their signature-dish deals fall at four price points — $5, $10, $15 and $20 — letting diners choose how much to spend as they sample the lineup.

Parking Downtown

For diners driving downtown, the City of Naperville lists four parking facilities: Van Buren at 43 W. Van Buren Ave.; Central at 75 E. Chicago Ave.; Municipal Center at 400 S. Eagle St.; and Water Street at 120 Water St. The City says on-street parking generally has a two-hour limit from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, except on Washington Street.

Why a Fall Event, and Not Just Restaurant Week

The fall promotion differs from Naperville Restaurant Week, which is generally held in winter. NCTV17 reported that the new event is intended to help local restaurants draw customers before the holidays. Monica Conners, president of the Naperville Development Partnership, said its lower-priced offers are timely amid higher gas prices.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Conners sees the smaller promotion as a possible lead-in to Restaurant Week, while noting that joining a first-time event is a significant investment for restaurants when the results are uncertain. Conners said Taste of Naperville was first imagined as an outdoor festival like Taste of Chicago, but that proved too large an undertaking; a larger festival could still be possible in the future.

The fall format can include businesses that may not fit Restaurant Week’s prix fixe approach, such as ice cream shops, the Tribune reported. NCTV17 said the 2025 Restaurant Week ran Jan. 20 through Feb. 3, with prix fixe menus, discounts and other promotions, and reported nearly 60 participating businesses. Positively Naperville put the 2025 count at nearly 70 restaurants and says the 2026 edition is scheduled for Jan. 23 through Feb. 8.

Who's Serving What

The Tribune lists Empire Burgers + Brew, Bangkok Village, Bar Louie and Kabab King Grill among the participants. At Tapville Social, 216 S. Washington St., general manager Malachi Aviles said the restaurant has eight Taste of Naperville bites starting at $5, including beer cheese fries and a honey-butter chicken slider. Aviles said he hopes the offers will bring more customers to the location, which has operated at that address for eight years.

Aviles told the Tribune that some Naperville residents are unfamiliar with Tapville Social, but that people who visit for the first time tend to enjoy its different concept. The promotion gives the restaurant a chance to reach those potential customers.

Bar Louie Eyes a Customer Boost

At Bar Louie’s Showplace Drive location, general manager Ashley Rambo is targeting a 15% to 20% increase in the restaurant’s customer base, according to the Tribune. The chain’s offers include three $10 choices — bruschetta, a cheese quesadilla and Bavarian pretzels with garlic butter glaze — plus chicken nachos for $15.

Rambo also told the Tribune that a recently lifted happy-hour ban is supporting business at Bar Louie as the restaurant enters the promotion. With offers spanning several price points and a mix of businesses, Taste of Naperville gives diners another way to explore the downtown restaurant scene alongside the established winter event.
