A new health clinic has opened inside Liberty Square, giving Miami residents a place to get dental work, internal medicine and family care without leaving the neighborhood. Jessie Trice Community Health System held a ribbon-cutting and open house last Wednesday, October 21, to celebrate the facility at 1415 NW 63rd St., Suite 102.

The event drew a crowd that included JTCHS leadership, board members, staff, elected officials and community residents, according to South Florida Hospital News. State Representative Ashley Gantt, Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Keon Hardemon and Related Urban Development Group president Albert Milo Jr. were among those who showed up for the occasion, the outlet reported. The Miami Times adds that Thamara Labrousse, chair of the JTCHS board of directors, said the opening brings the organization's mission to life by ensuring access to quality health care and healthier lives.

What the New Clinic Offers

The facility is designed to serve both adults and children, offering internal medicine, family medicine and general dentistry under one roof, per the same South Florida Hospital News account. It is equipped with modern medical equipment, according to the Miami Times. The stated goal, per the press release cited by South Florida Hospital News, is to reduce barriers to care, including transportation challenges and long travel distances that have historically made it harder for Liberty Square residents to see a doctor or dentist.

Ryan R. Hawkins, president and CEO of JTCHS, encouraged residents to use the new services, according to the Miami Times, saying the facility excites the organization and urging neighbors to prioritize their health and lead healthier lives. JTCHS describes itself as a federally qualified community health care system that has served Miami-Dade County since 1967, according to its own About Us page. Beyond the services offered at the new Liberty Square site, the organization says it also provides dentistry, pediatrics, behavioral health, pharmacy, nutrition, and obstetric and gynecological care across its broader network, per the Miami Times.

Part of a Larger Liberty Square Rebuild

The clinic is one piece of the broader redevelopment of Liberty Square, led by Related Urban Development Group, which South Florida Hospital News reports aims to expand residents' access to resources and opportunities that support long-term well-being. That rebuilding effort has been underway for years; the Miami Herald reported that Serenity of Liberty Square opened the fourth phase of a planned nine-phase redevelopment back in April 2025, with that particular building adding 193 units, including 27 public housing units and 50 project-based voucher units. At the time, the Herald also noted that the building was slated to eventually include a Jessie Trice Community Healthcare clinic, a plan that has now become reality.

JTCHS says it owns and operates sixteen facilities across the county, per its locations page, including eight comprehensive primary care centers, with some sites offering medical, oral health, behavioral health and optometry services. The organization also says it provides school health services, including preventative screenings, eye exams and telehealth, to 60 Miami-Dade County public and charter schools, according to its April-June 2026 newsletter. South Florida Hospital News reports that JTCHS has additional facilities planned as it continues expanding its presence across the county.

Part of a Growing Expansion

The Liberty Square opening follows other recent moves by JTCHS to grow its footprint and training capacity. In June 2025, the organization opened the Annie R. Neasman Teaching and Research Annex and launched its Family Medicine Residency Program, with an inaugural class of four residents, according to the organization's own announcement. Together with the new Liberty Square clinic, the moves reflect an organization pushing to put care closer to where Miami-Dade residents already live, work and send their kids to school.
