A new Nothing Bundt Cakes location is taking shape in Bellevue, with the company preparing to open a bakery at 8133 Sawyer Brown Road, B1-604. The spot is currently listed on the company's own location finder simply as “Bakery Coming Soon,” and no opening date has been made public.
According to WhatNow, the Bellevue bakery will offer birthday and wedding cakes once it opens. While the publication notes that additional services haven't yet been listed and operating hours have not been provided, there are signs of forward motion on the project. An electrical sign permit was issued September 15, per a Nashville ePermits record cited in the same report, covering the installation of two 67-square-foot illuminated wall signs for the building's north and east façades. Bozman Sign Co. Inc. is listed as the applicant on that permit, which specifically excludes any work involving two existing awning structures at the site.
What's on the Menu
Nothing Bundt Cakes offers handcrafted Bundt Cakes in a variety of sizes and flavors, the report notes, with a lineup that includes Bundt Cakes, Big Bundt Cakes, Tiered Cakes, Bundtlets and Bundtinis. Flavors span red velvet, chocolate chocolate chip, white chocolate raspberry, confetti, lemon, strawberries and cream, Oreo cookies and cream, classic vanilla, carrot, and a gluten-free option. Beyond cakes, the company's bakeries also carry party supplies, décor and gifts, according to the brand's own location finder.
Nothing Bundt Cakes traces back to 1997, when Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz founded the brand out of their Las Vegas home kitchens. It has since expanded to more than 550 bakery locations across more than 40 states and Canada, per the company's site. Nashville's directory currently lists three locations total, including the upcoming Bellevue bakery and another coming-soon spot on Lebanon Pike, the WhatNow report notes.
Part of a Broader Middle Tennessee Push
The Bellevue project follows a run of Nashville-area growth for the local Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise. The operation, run by Jay and Amy DeLuca, opened new locations in Smyrna and Brentwood during the last quarter of 2023, according to Williamson Scene, which also reported the franchise expected a third opening in Antioch in early 2024. The DeLucas got their start with Nothing Bundt Cakes in 2015, growing three locations in Ohio before acquiring the Nashville White Bridge bakery along with locations in Cool Springs and Murfreesboro in 2021.
The Brentwood bakery, which opened in the Brentwood Place shopping center, marked the DeLucas' fifth Middle Tennessee location and eighth overall between Tennessee and Ohio, according to the Williamson Herald, which noted Williamson Inc. hosted a ribbon cutting for the occasion. That outlet also described the Smyrna and Brentwood bakeries as prototype locations for the brand, with interiors unlike any other Nothing Bundt Cakes shop in the country. Williamson Scene's report further noted the DeLucas employed about 120 people across their six Ohio and Nashville locations at the time, with the franchise group having also eyed Spring Hill, North Nashville and the Gulch as potential sites for future stores.
For now, the Bellevue bakery remains a work in progress, with the sign permit offering the clearest public evidence yet that an opening is getting closer. Until the company announces a firm date, Bellevue residents curious about birthday and wedding cakes will have to keep an eye on that “Bakery Coming Soon” listing.
