Omaha is starting Monday with clear skies, calm winds and temperatures near 48 degrees before a long stretch of sunshine takes over. The afternoon should reach about 75 degrees, making for a comfortable fall day after the chilly early morning. The warm-up is only getting started, with Tuesday expected to climb into the low 80s.
Sunshine Takes Over Monday
The National Weather Service Omaha/Valley forecasts a sunny Monday with south-southeast winds generally staying below 10 mph, though a few gusts could reach 16 mph. Temperatures should rise steadily through the morning, reaching the upper 60s around lunchtime and the mid-70s during the afternoon.
Monday night will remain clear, with temperatures settling near 54 degrees before rising slightly overnight. Patchy fog is possible in river valleys and low-lying areas early Monday, but most locations should have good visibility once the sun is up, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday Brings The Week’s Warmest Afternoon
Tuesday looks like the warmest day of the near-term forecast, with sunny skies and a high near 81 degrees. Wednesday should stay sunny with a high around 77, while Thursday remains mostly sunny and cooler near 73.
Rain chances stay close to zero through Wednesday, then edge up late Thursday night and early Friday. Forecasters see only a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Thursday night and before 7 a.m. Friday, followed by mostly sunny skies and a high near 74.
Flooding Remains The Serious Caveat
The pleasant weather does not mean regional water concerns are over. Flood warnings remain in effect for portions of Turkey Creek and the Big Blue River, with expiration times ranging from Monday night into Tuesday as river levels gradually fall.
The latest outlook is a warmer and more settled update to Hoodline’s earlier forecast, which had called for a cooler start to the week. Saturday and Sunday should also stay sunny near 78 degrees, although south winds will become noticeably stronger, with gusts up to 28 mph Saturday and 23 mph Sunday.
