Construction has started on a new Produce Junction location coming to South Burnt Mill Road in Voorhees, near Somerdale Road and not far from the Boscov's side of Voorhees Town Center. The project is going into a building that has cycled through several retail tenants over the years, and it's already drawing attention for one very practical reason: the parking lot alone has 140 spaces.

According to 42 Freeway, Produce Junction was identified as the incoming tenant through construction documents, and the site itself is located at 332 S. Burnt Mill Road, which property records from NJParcels.com list as Block 26, Lot 6 in Voorhees Township, Camden County. The building offers more than 19,000 square feet of space, dwarfing some of the chain's other South Jersey locations — the Magnolia store runs about 12,000 square feet, while the Clementon location is smaller still at 9,000 square feet, per the same report.

A Building With a Long Retail History

The Voorhees building has seen a parade of tenants before Produce Junction's arrival. Over the years it has been home to Thriftway Grocery, Shop 'n Mark, Sears Appliance Outlet and, most recently, American Freight Appliance, the station's report notes. The property sits directly next to the popular Sweet Eats Bakery, which recently expanded its own parking area and retail store space, adding to the stretch's growing foot traffic.

Produce Junction has not directly confirmed the Voorhees location to 42 Freeway, and no expected opening date has been made available. Once open, the store will carry the chain's usual lineup: fresh fruits and vegetables at affordable prices, complemented by fresh flowers and a variety of plants that change with the seasons, the outlet reports.

A Family-Run Chain Rooted in Swedesboro

Produce Junction was founded in 1977 by a Philadelphia family and remains owned and operated by that same family today, according to the same account. The company's headquarters and distribution center sit in Swedesboro, New Jersey, supporting a total of 20 Delaware Valley locations — a footprint that includes two stores in Delaware, 12 in Pennsylvania and six in New Jersey, per the report.

Those six existing New Jersey stores are spread across Clementon, Magnolia, Maple Shade, Marlton, Egg Harbor Township and Willingboro, the station's report notes, a list that lines up with Produce Junction's own locations page, which shows addresses including 85 East Route 70 in Marlton and a store at the intersection of Blackwood-Clementon and Chews Landing roads. A Voorhees location would mark the seventh store in the state, adding to a presence that's been steadily building across South Jersey, according to a separate report from wobm.com, which counted the same six New Jersey locations before the Voorhees project broke ground.
