Phoenix is starting Tuesday under mostly cloudy skies near 66 degrees, with a final round of showers or thunderstorms possible before sunrise. The rain will give way to a cooler, mostly sunny day, but the Valley's unusually lively weather pattern is not finished yet.

Showers Wind Down By Sunrise

Lingering showers may move through the metro early Tuesday, with localized rainfall totals of up to a quarter-inch possible. Recent rain has been heavier north and east of central Phoenix, while the eastern Arizona high country could keep seeing showers into early afternoon.

After that, drier air takes over. The latest National Weather Service Phoenix forecast calls for a high near 80 degrees Tuesday, winds with a mostly southerly component generally at or below 12 knots, and occasional gusts in the upper teens.

That is a substantial shift from Monday's storm setup, which was covered in Hoodline's earlier forecast. For most Phoenix neighborhoods, the practical takeaway is simple: keep rain gear handy early, then expect a much calmer afternoon.

Coolest Stretch Arrives Tuesday Night

Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 58 degrees. Wednesday stays sunny and pleasantly cool for Phoenix, with a high near 78.

The warm-up begins Thursday, when sunny skies return with a high near 86. Overnight lows will also trend upward, reaching the upper 60s by Thursday night and Friday morning.

Stronger Winds Take Over Late Week

Friday is expected to bring the biggest weather impact of the week. Increasing easterly winds could bring widespread gusts of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph in parts of southern Maricopa and Pinal counties, which may eventually need a Wind Advisory.

Saturday should remain mostly sunny with a high near 83, followed by another sunny stretch Sunday and Monday with highs near 86 and 88. Rain chances will stay low around Phoenix through the weekend, although forecasters are watching for a small chance of showers in southeast Arizona.

No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the Phoenix area in the current forecast. Still, Friday's gusty winds could make driving, cycling and outdoor setup work more difficult, especially in open areas and along east-west routes.
