Salt Lake City is starting Wednesday with temperatures near 55 degrees early at the airport and a forecast high around 83. Light winds are expected at KSLC. After a few more warm, dry days, a wetter and much cooler pattern is headed for the weekend.
Sunny And Warm Through Friday
Wednesday afternoon temperatures should climb into the low 80s, with a low near 57 Wednesday night. Thursday should be sunny, with a high near 84.
Friday looks similarly warm, topping out near 84 degrees. Overnight skies will turn partly cloudy, with temperatures holding near 62 before the weekend shift arrives.
Storm Chances Increase Saturday
Saturday brings a noticeable change, with a high near 79. Showers are likely Saturday night as temperatures fall to around 56.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Sunday, when the high is expected to drop to about 70 degrees. The National Weather Service's Salt Lake City office says a strong Pacific system could bring widespread rain across Utah from late Saturday through at least Tuesday, with the heaviest period currently favored from Sunday evening into Monday.
Cooler, Unsettled Weather Early Next Week
Early next week could bring cooler, unsettled weather.
Forecasters are watching for 1 to 2 inches of rain across much of Utah, with locally higher totals possible in southern Utah. That could raise flash-flood concerns in vulnerable areas such as recent burn scars and slot canyons, even though no watches or warnings are posted for the Salt Lake City area right now.
